Unfortunately, this theoretically satisfying method leads to a mathematical problem that I have not solved. |

My name is Stefan Evert. I am Juniorprofessor (don't ask ...) for Computational Linguistics at the Institute of Cognitive Science of the University of Osnabrück. One of my main interests is the application of statistical methods to corpus frequency data. I've got a Dr. phil. in Computational Linguistics from the Institut für maschinelle Sprachverarbeitung of the University of Stuttgart. My Ph.D. thesis on The Statistics of Word Cooccurrences has been published on-line in 2005 and will soon get its own Web page at www.collocations.de/phd.html; an extended book publication is in the works. See my professional page to learn about the other work I do and for a full list of publications (including a download link for my Ph.D.thesis). This web site arose from joint work on collocation extraction methods and the empirical evaluation of association measures with Brigitte Krenn (ÖFAI, Vienna). It has now become a companion to my PhD thesis, providing a repository of association measures, important references, and a software toolkit for scientifc research on word cooccurrences (which implements all the association measures in the repository). |
